Election Passes Alcohol Sales/Consumption

May 8, 2010 - Local Election Passes Alcohol Sales and Consumption within the City Limits leading to the opening of the new Silver Creek Sports Bar and the selling of drinks at local restaurants, as well as packaged wine and beer at convenience stores.

Restrictions have been put in place to manage the enforcement of ordinances such as limiting sales near Churches, Schools, Day Cares and prohibiting bars in the downtown Business District.

Overnight travelers now have the ability of greater choice of nightlife along their journey with Shamrock now being one of the only destination between Amarillo and Oklahoma City with a place to responsibly enjoy a beer or glass of wine with their meal.

According to the County Star News, Mayor Buc Weatherby is quoted, "Upon seeing the results of the recent election to legalize the sale of all alcoholic beverages withing the Shamrock City limits, the Shamrock City Council wasted no time in making sure that the City of shamrock can reap the benefits of this decision, while eliminating any problems of enforcement before they begin."
